840 Tonnes Cut and Bent Rebar, 350 Tonnes ROM Kwikfix Fabric

Brief description
Kwikfix Fabric used for Basement Slab to provide T12 at 100mm c/c in both directions Top and Bottom layers.

Specific issues / problems
Originally detailed as 4 Layers of Standard B1131 mesh ROM's redetailed solution offered significant benefits. Firstly ROM's Kwikfix Fabric offered a weight saving of almost 5kg/m2 (over the 4 layers) giving a total weight of steel saving of almost 45 Tonnes over the basement slab. Secondly, the bespoke nature of ROM's Kwikfix Fabric eliminated the need for the standard 20% allowance for extra over material to allow for wastage, thus reducing the overall required tonnage of steel by a further 60 Tonnes. Finally, as the supplied sheets were designed to fit pour dimensions the normal labour requirements to cut sheets to fit was all but eliminated, this provided further significant savings. Bespoke Wire Chairs with additional strength capacity were manufactured to accomodate the sites requirments.
